A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW...
A hundred years from now,
It will not matter the sort of house I lived in,
What my bank account was,
Or the car I drove...
But the world may be different
Because I was important in the life of animals
And the creatures on this earth.

Welcome to Castlewood Kennels
Castlewood is a small kennel located in beautiful North Carolina.
Aside from my personal dogs, I also do a little fostering and rescue work.
Through the years I've been fortunate to share my life with several different breeds. As a child growing up in South Florida we had German shepherds that guarded our family business. We always had a couple little poodles as house dogs too. They were rescues that had been abuse cases. I also remember a chihuahua and an evil daschund .
When it came time to move to North Carolina I bought a 3-month old Rottweiler puppy from a kennel in central Florida. Cappi became my introduction to the world of dog training, dog shows and competitions.
Not long after moving to North Carolina I purchased my first Australian Shepherd. Several more Aussies were to follow. We logged a lot of miles competing in conformation and obedience.
When I started dating a guy who had cattle it was only natural to want some working dogs. I had a couple Border Collies and Catahoulas. I did a little sheep dog trialing with my Border Collie Nell, but really enjoyed working on the farm and at the livestock sale barn with my dogs. We also worked cattle for people. It was a lot of hard work, but it was fun and very satisfying work as well.
I moved and for a while work intruded and the dogs had to take a back seat. A job change a few years later allowed me to start working my dogs again. Over the years I had a pack of beagles I enjoyed listening to when they would run a rabbit. There were a couple Walker coonhounds, a sweet yellow lab named Abby, Standard Poodles Ripley & Piper, Belgian Malinois Alix & Dante, rescue pittbulls Baby & Grit, and the rescue Jack Russells Chip and Corey. Chip now lives a pampered life with my retired parents.
Now I have four dogs. Three are Portuguese Water Dogs named Mystique, Bee and Summer.
Big Chip is a rescue Border collie I pulled from our local animal shelter. I have started him in agility and he's really showing a lot of potential. You can read more about him on the Foster Dogs page.
I hope you enjoy the website; it's a work in progress. There are lots of pictures and plenty of links to sites that I enjoy. If you have any questions, just send me an e-mail.
